Recently a friend of mine in SL gave me an item called an emotion HUD. This is something you attach to your avatar that allows you to express a range of emotions. It's great to use in pictures.
I also used it along with an animation called fleeing. I think it worked out great. I only wish I'd had someone in the background chasing me.
